Visit to Bethsaida - 10th July, Sunday

The members of KCYM Chakkaraparambu Unit, on Sunday visited "Bethsaida", home for handicapped children. Around 25 members were present for this. This was a unique opportunity for all the members to experience and realize how luck we all are and how much the almighty god has blessed us, abundantly, even though we always feel that he (god) doesn't give us all we want. I am sure that after this visit all of us at KCYM have truly realized the extent of God's blessings in our life and on our family.
This is a small report prepared by Nirmal Thomas - On Sunday 10th July, 2011, at 9.30am, inspite of the heavy rain at that time, around 32 members of KCYM of St.George Church Chakkaraparambu  left for Bethsaida, home for handicapped children. By 10:30am we reached Bethsaida , Konthuruty and were welcomed by mother superior and sister Jyotsna. Sister Jyotsna gave us a short introductory talk on the charity home then we were taken to the handicapped children's section. There we found girls of different age groups from a 4th standard student to a graduate. When we entered their common room they were all sitting down on the floor and there were benches provided for us. When we were sitting on the benches we felt a communication gap so sister recommended us to be free to sit on the floor. After making ourselves comfortable on the floor with the rest of the kids we felt much more close with them. Next they introduced themselves and likewise we did the same. We were shocked by there memory power, that they were able to remember our names, that too after all of us had finished our introduction. Then it was time for some activities. From among them one sister sang a beautiful song. From our side Amitha Thomas recited a poem. Then it was time for Antakshari, between girls and boys. It was great and we all enjoyed thoroughly. A 4th standard student among them performed a beautiful dance. This was followed by a group dance from our side under guidance of Kripa Jose and Vinny Vincent. Also our female members performed two beautiful action songs and brother Jolly Thadathil who had accompanied us, sang and danced to a song which went "Keow keow...". We distributed sweets to them and from there side also they distributed sweets. As it was getting late for lunch we had quick personal interaction with them and we ended our session with a thanks giving prayer from sister Jyotsna.By around 1 pm we bid farewell to our new found friends and left Bethzeitha. Also special mention goes out to Jincy Joy and Chippy Philiph, who were the coordinators for the event. Congratulations on a job well done!
